Why are we even taking the risk of being flooded out or skiing in unsafe conditions??? The Rock Aqua Jays haven't even been able to use the site for the past couple weeks... We should be giving WI Rapids the OK to host so they have at least sometime to prepare...

We are taking the risk for a short period of time because we were awarded the tournament two years ago and will do everything we possibly can to be able to host the tournament.

The Aqua Skiers reached out to us, and we spoke with them. They indicated how much time they needed, which explains why we are still waiting for the river to come down. If they had said they needed more time, we would have made a decision already.

The Rock Aqua Jays have only been off of our own site for one week, not a couple of weeks. We were last on the water for our Wednesday, July 21 show.

Moving the tournament to a different location is a decision for the NSSA Board of Directors. It's not an automatic that it will go to Rapids, but very likely.

If anyone has any concerns, they should obtain the cancellation policy for hotel rooms here in Janesville and reserve a room in Rapids or Stevens Point. Rest assured, we will make a decision sooner rather than later. We understand what is at stake here and ask for some patience. The river has come down rapidly in the past, and we'd like a little more time to see if it will do so this time too. There's a lot at stake here...more so for our community than for us.

Please stay tuned to this site and/or the RAJ website for updates.

Thank you,

Joel Shapiro

Thanks for the update Joel. Someone needs to go to Rockford and open the dam. They aren't even near flooding, but everyone above them is over.
